Recently, the number of questions reaching us at Ghayat about the possibility of running paid ads for Syrian pages on Facebook has increased significantly. The reason is clear: business owners and online stores inside Syria genuinely need to promote their pages and reach new customers.
But the answer, unfortunately, is not very encouraging
Because of the policies of the Meta platform (Facebook and Instagram), most pages linked to Syrian accounts are now blocked from running ads. And even when you check the page status from inside Business Support Home, it shows that the restriction dates from a very long time ago, and there is no “Request Review” option available for review or reactivation.
Direct Contact with Facebook: What Was the Result?
Through our follow-up at Ghayat and our constant contact with support teams at Meta, a long meeting was held a few days ago to resolve some problems affecting several Syrian pages.
The support team tried to lift the block manually from one of the pages, but unfortunately the result was negative: the block could not be lifted because of the old restrictions on Syrian accounts.
This confirms that the problem is both technical and political, and not just an individual or temporary error.
The Difference Between Facebook and Instagram for Syrian Accounts
What we have seen in real experience is that the biggest blocking affects Facebook pages linked to Syrian accounts, while Instagram is much less sensitive.
That means even if the account is Syrian, it usually faces fewer problems or has no ad restriction at all.
So the current solution focuses on using Instagram as an alternative platform, especially if the business depends on photos or videos (such as fashion, clinics, restaurants...).
How Do We Check the Block Status on Our Page?

We go to the Business Support Home page through our account.

We review the ad account and page status.

If there is an option Request Review, it means there is a real chance of reactivation.

But if the block is old (as in most cases), the plain fact is that the page is permanently out of advertising service.
The Practical Solution for Running Ads Right Now
The most suitable solution at the moment, from our experience at Ghayat is as follows:

Create a new Facebook page from a clean, unblocked personal account.

Preferably the account should be from outside Syria (via VPN, or a real user in another country).

Link the new page to an active Instagram account.

Run ads on both platforms together (Facebook + Instagram) through an active ad account and a valid payment method.
This way you can start your ads running completely normally without problems, as long as the advertising environment (country, account, payment method) is clean and safe in Meta's eyes.
So, do we just lose all the earlier work on the old pages?
Of course not, and what happened is truly unfortunate, especially for page owners who spent years building their audience.
But unfortunately the platform is very hard on Syrian accounts at this time, andthere are no radical solutions right now other than starting over, in the hope that Meta lifts these restrictions in the future.
